It is said that kindness emerges in the most unexpected places, and in the most unexpected times. During periods of humanity’s hardships throughout history, there have been numerous instances of miraculous acts of genuine kindness that have lit a light in a pit of darkness, such as the historical Christmas truce during World War I in 1914.
Well, you shouldn’t be surprised that these acts of kindness have continued to perpetuate throughout times of crisis, especially in the wake of the Wuhan outbreak as reported by Oriental Daily!
This instance of kindness, which has warmed the hearts of netizens all over, happened in Anhui. China, where over 152 cases of the Wuhan coronavirus have been reported, according to Business Insider as of 30th January 2020. Caught on video, a man brought over 500 masks, packed in stacks of boxes into an Anhui police station.
Given the fact that public authorities such as the police and medical staff have to always be on standby in the frontlines of the worst stricken areas, masks are essential in keeping the spread of the disease at bay. But given the high demand recently, getting boxes of these masks for use can be hard to come by.
Leaving over 500 of them on the counter of the police station’s front desk, the anonymous man then sprints away, but not before saying:
“You all have worked very hard!”
Despite trying to chase and thank him, the police didn’t manage to catch up with him. Instead, they saluted him in thanks, before saying:
“Young man, you look very handsome running away!”
The video, which has spread like wildfire over the Internet, moved netizens to tears, with many of them saying that its acts of kindness like this that prove why humanity still stands strong throughout the toughest of times.
Whoever the young man is, we commend you for both your generosity and your courage! And to the world, we hope that we will all make it through the Wuhan epidemic, and pray for the health of everyone reading!
