As we all know, money makes the world go round and in the past few years, the cost of living has been rising everywhere in the world; it is no exception for Malaysians and our neighbour, Singapore.
Recently, the Singaporean Chinese newspaper, Lianhe Zaobao conducted a street interview asking the elderly if they have enough CPF (Singapore’s EPF equivalent) to retire comfortably.
Most of them answered by saying that it is not enough and they will need to work past the age of retirement to earn their daily allowance while others shared some tips on how to get cheaper groceries and food to reduce the cost.
However, one particular aunty stood out with her boisterous laugh.
In a clip of the street interview that had gone viral, the aunty burst into laughter when asked if she thinks her CPF will be enough for her to retire.
After she laughed, she turned to look at the interviewer and laughed again which seems to indicate that she found the question absurd. She then questioned the interviewer,
“I ask you, how do you say money is enough or not enough? It’s impossible, money is always not enough.”
Many netizens found the aunty to be authentic and that her response represents what they are all feeling.
