Months after the unity government was formed, the rising living cost and inflation show no signs of improving anytime soon.
To prove a point, Former Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin revealed that he has started raising chickens for eggs on his farm as 1 of the methods to solve the egg supplies in the market today. According to him, he can get up to 40 eggs in a day after he has started raising chickens on his farm.
However, there is another issue. While Muhyiddin has a farm big enough for him to raise 30 to 40 chickens, not everyone has the luxury to raise that many chickens at a time, especially those who are living in Klang Valley.
During a speech last night (9 July) in Negeri Sembilan, Muhyiddin said that he visited some places in Taman Melawati, KL to speak to the vendors there, who had nothing but complaints about the rising prices of goods.
“Everyone is telling me about the rising prices of goods, and when I asked them if anything is going down, they said only the rain is coming down.”
The vendors also told the former PM that the price for a kilo of eggs now goes up to more than RM10, which has proven to be a little too much for the vendors.
“When I was the PM, the price for a kilo of eggs was only RM6.40.”
Muhyiddin also said that based on empirical research conducted on 1,200 respondents, the living cost is the major issue that most of them are struggling with at the moment.
“Everyone is talking about the rising cost of living, the rising prices of food, the lack of food supplies, including eggs.”
The former PM also said that his effort in raising chickens for eggs is to prove that anything is achievable as long as we work hard for ourselves. You can watch and listen to the speech on his Facebook post.
While Muhyiddin’s effort to fight the rising living cost is admirable, what about those who stay in places where farming is quite impossible?
