The Ministry of National Unity has proposed that the requirement to wear Jalur Gemilang badges on school uniforms be extended to Unity Kindergartens across the country.
According to a report by Sinar Harian, National Unity Minister, Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang, shared that the proposal is seen as a good step towards instilling patriotism and the love for our country among children from an early age.

“Wearing the Jalur Gemilang badge can be recommended for children. It will instil interest and patriotic spirit towards the country,”
“So far, we have 34,654 children registered in 781 Unity Kindergartens and 990 children registered in 41 Unity Nurseries nationwide,” he said.
Starting yesterday (21 April), all students in educational institutions under the Ministry of Education (MOE) are required to wear a Jalur Gemilang badge on their uniforms.
The new directive applies to all government schools, government-aided schools, matriculation colleges and Institutes of Teacher Education (IPG). Moreover, MOE also encourages other educational institutions in the country to adopt the practice.
MOE further clarified that each student will receive two badges for free.
