The authorities have been making leaps and bounds on the 1MDB investigations and former Prime Minister Najib Razak has been summoned to MACC headquarters to give his statement today (22 May), regarding the SRC International Sdn Bhd scandal.

However, in a shocking (or not so shocking?) turn of events, two of Najib’s lawyers have decided to quit just hours before the questioning session takes place.

In fact, the lawyer himself, Harpal Singh Grewal confirmed the news when he was contacted by reporters when he left Najib’s house in Taman Duta at 10.40pm last night (21 May). He revealed that another lawyer called M Athimulan has withdrawn from the team as well!

“We were not dismissed; we withdrew after tonight’s discussion,” Harpal said.

The decision was done out of respect to Najib’s wish after the former prime minister had decided to engage former solicitor-general Mohd Yusof Zainal Abiden along with six other lawyers. That’s a huge team!

Also, it’d be difficult for the duo to work with the new team, Harpal told the reporters.

Najib was summoned by MACC regarding the scandal of RM42 million being transferred from SRC International Sdn Bhd to his personal account.

Well, we can’t wait to listen to his explanation! Stay tuned for more juicy info guys!
