In reports from The Star, Free Malaysia Today and New Straits Times, it has been revealed that former-Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has put himself under a two-week self-quarantine period after it was found that he had been in close contact with a Minister of Parliament that tested positive for Covid-19.

This quarantine period was necessitated after Dr Mahathir was seen taking a photo with an MP who later tested positive for Covid-19. The former-Prime Minister has also undergone a Covid-19 test himself on Tuesday (17th March 2020), but the results of his test are still unknown at this point in time.

During an exclusive interview with TV3’s Buletin Utama program, Dr Mahathir has repeatedly stressed the importance of discipline in adhering to the rules of the quarantine measures that are expected of those who have been possibly exposed to Covid-19.

“We must self-quarantine at home for 14 days. If we do that, there will be less possibility of the virus spreading to other people,”

“So, now I am just at home. I cannot go out and I cannot meet people. I cannot shake hands, and others,” said Dr Mahathir.

The former-Prime Minister also urged Malaysians to stay home during the Movement Control Order period, and to get screened for Covid-19 if urged by the authorities to do so.

We hope that Tun M’s tests return negative, and wish to remind all Malaysians to please be sure to respect the Movement Control Order at this time! Stay home and #dudukrumahdiamdiam!
