The Exchange TRX’s City Park is apparently set to be opened to the public in 2 weeks time (November 29), with premium park dining spaces, recreational facilities, a pop up IMAX theatre and more.

And while it is meant to be a piece of nature in the bustling concrete jungle of Kuala Lumpur, many are hoping that the park won’t become as ‘Malaysian‘ as other parks around town. You’ll find out what we mean in a bit.

The Skyscrapers MY Twitter page recently shared a little preview of how TRX City Park will look.

They wrote, “A sneak peek of TRX City Park that will be open this November 29. The 10-acre park will become a new space for leisure and jogging in the middle of Kuala Lumpur. It can be reached via the Tun Razak Exchange MRT station or a 15-minute walk from Pavilion Bukit Bintang.”

It’s pretty, but for how long?

While netizens were impressed by how the park looks, they were also concerned and called for food vendors to be disallowed from setting up shop there to prevent the beauty of the park to be polluted by littering.

Vendors 1

“Please ban umbrella business people (vendors) as there will be rubbish spewed everywhere, pests would breed there because of the food waste.”

Vendors 2

“Don’t let people open up shop here. It doesn’t matter what items they sell.”

Vendors 3

“Give it a month or two and there will be roadside vendors here.”

Vendors 4

“I hope there won’t be those who open up shop here. And I really hope that we maintain cleanliness. If there are no dustbins, keep (your rubbish) and throw it away at home. Don’t become monkeys who see a pretty place and trash it.”

Considering the fact that almost every local recreational space in Malaysia has been littered and trashed following the presence of roadside vendors, with our fellow Malaysians also to blame for not properly disposing of the rubbish, we too hope that TRX City Park will remain clean and green without food wrappers and plastic cups dotting the scenery.

What are your expectations for TRX City Park? Do feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.
