Do y’all remember Alvin Netto? If you don’t, allow me to jog your memory a little bit.
Last year (2018), Alvin Netto managed to raise RM10,000 for charity by running backwards non-stop. He then made it into Malaysia Book of Records for “Longest Non-Stop Backwards Running”. I bet you remember him now!
Last time, we asked Alvin if he would be up for another challenge after completing the Longest Non-Stop Backwards Running, and he said that he was game for it.
Staying true to his words, the Ironman has completed yet another challenge as he managed to finish 2727 Burpees in 8 hours and raised RM28,888 for charity. The event was also conducted in conjunction with World Heart Day, and Alvin raised the money for “needy cardiac patients”.
What’s even more astonishing is that Alvin managed to finish his 2727 burpees in only eight hours, and I can’t even get out of my bed in the morning. Alvin said in a statement which was shared with WOB,
“I had been training for 1 year leading up to the event and had done close to 30,000 burpees throughout the training. I have always believed (that) we can (do) anything we set our mind to. I even have a hashtag – #BeAnAchiever.”
Of course, in-between burpees, Alvin had a one-minute break which allowed him to breathe for a bit. But, he said that the last-hour was especially painful because he was experiencing muscle cramps. Nevertheless, he wasn’t about to give up yet because he pushed through the obstacles with only one goal in mind – to raise money for charity.
He shared,
“I had to be strong and focus on the purpose of why I was doing this in the first place. I knew many kind Malaysians (had) donated. I had to do this and keep my word to raise the funds. The cheers got louder and my heart thumped like no other day.”
“When I hit 2700 with a few minutes to go, I pushed it further bringing it to a 2727 record-setting number.”
When Alvin completed his challenge, he stood victorious as spectators shed tears of joy for the man. Since his achievement was one of a kind, Alvin Netto has made into the Malaysia Book of Records once again. Seriously, is there anything this guy can’t do!
Alvin Netto, who is a Certified Personal Trainer, is just unstoppable because he also won the AFC Personal Trainer of the year (2019) award a few weeks after his charity event. The award was given to him during the 2019 edition of the Asia Fitness Conference in Bangkok, held from 10th to 14th October 2019.
This feat is made even more special because Alvin is the first Malaysian to have ever attained this award. He elaborated,
“My mission is to assist and inspire 1,000,000 Malaysians to move more and lead a healthy lifestyle. In addition to this, I want to help personal trainers to be better at their job. My message is that we can succeed in anything we aim to achieve and this makes us an achiever.”
Accolades after accolades, no wonder Alvin is an inspiration to many people.
On that note, I hope that Alvin will soar to greater heights in the near future as he continues to inspire Malaysians to lead a healthy lifestyle. To Alvin Netto: Congratulations on the outstanding achievements! And, may you continue to prosper in your work as well as life.
