It’s definitely a fun way to celebrate graduation amidst the pandemic.
Due to the pandemic, almost everything has shifted to the online world. From working, attending classes to buying groceries and meeting friends. Nowadays, even graduation ceremonies are held online, but without the flowers and beautiful graduation gowns.
To make up for the regret of not having a physical graduation ceremony on campus, two alumni from University Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), Leong and Kai, built the UTAR Kampar Campus using Minecraft, in hopes of celebrating together with the graduates.

“We know how hard it is, not having to complete graduation after years of study. So we decided to make our own but in Minecraft. Happy Graduation guys!” they stated on their Facebook page named UTAR Minecraft. They shared a video of the whole “Minecraft UTAR”, featuring many Minecraft characters in the scenes who gathered for the graduation ceremony.
In the video, we can see that the “Minecraft UTAR” is so meticulously built, that all the details such as trees, pillars, the man-made pond and glass doors and more are incorporated, accurately.

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Leong and Kai said that they spent 5 months on this project. So far, there are three blocks built, and they will continue to update over the weekend as they are both working.
When asked how they come up with the idea, one of them said, “We both play Minecraft together from time to time, one day when he suggested this randomly, I just went with it”. They got inspiration from another group of netizens, who also built their high school campus with Minecraft.
Thus far, the two who graduated from the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology said that they will concentrate on building the other blocks of the UTAR Kampar campus, including the sports complex. “Only three blocks are built so far, so the entire campus is expected to be completed a year later,” they added.
