It’s almost impossible to lose weight in Malaysia because our country is practically a food paradise with endless delicious meals to offer. However, this young talented artist found a hack that enabled him to lose a whopping 30kg! Teach me, master!
Ladies and gentlemen, meet Chan Kai Lun, a young artist who interestingly reduced his weight from 110kg to 80kg, all by channelling his deep love for food into paintings..
During the opening ceremony of his second art exhibition in Penang, Chan said the hardest part about losing weight is dieting and exercising. He had to deprive himself of many mouth-watering foods and consume them only in small quantities since he’s watching his calorie intake.
Obviously, it takes a lot of willpower to live in Penang since it is never short of tasty street food.
“This is especially true for my mother’s cheese-baked lobster, white rabbit candy, and various snacks. I successfully warded off the seduction of food by channelling my lust for food into my paintings,” Chan said, adding that the biggest challenge was when he wanted to eat something but could only do so in small quantities.
The struggle is real.
As such, it’s not surprising that the “cheese-baked lobster” as well as “white rabbit candy and other snacks” paintings are his two favourites of all time. Having said that, his other paintings are equally fascinating too as each painting tells the story of how he was seduced by food while on a mission to shed some kilos.
Believe it or not, 25 of his paintings were sold in the first half hour of the opening! That’s impressive!
His art exhibition that takes place at The Art Room in Straits Quay has already begun since 29 September and the last day would be on 20 October. You can drop by between 10.30am and 10.30pm to understand his struggle of losing weight better. Kipidap Chan!
If your current weight-loss programme isn’t working out, why not give this a shot! Good luck!
