We have heard of so many delicious durian hybrids from various parts of Malaysia. From Musang King to Blackthorn to Udang Merah, we Malaysians are spoiled for choice when it comes to the king of fruits. Recently, a new type of durian that was added to the list of premium durians that fans all over Malaysia are craving.
According to Must Share News, the new durian won first place and was labelled as a premium at the “Durian Unggul” competition that was held in Segamat, Johor on 28th June.
This new premium durian (tagged as P089 in the competition) does not have a name for now, but there is talk that it could be a contender among other premium durians such as Mao Shan Wang and Black Thorn.

The unnamed premium durian is a creation from Mad Zin Abdullah, who is a plantation owner in Kampung Tengah. He also achieved second place for another variety of durian he created. The first place winner netted Mad Zin RM 1,000, while the second place winner brought in RM 750. Winners also collected a Mao Shan Wang durian plant each as a prize. In this case, Mad Zin Abdullah brought back two Mao Shan Wang durian plants!

According to Mad Zin, the winning durian tastes faintly bitter and it is creamy. He wishes to present the new type of durian to the Johor agricultural department for registration and then his premium durian’s name will be determined by the department.
Well, we can never have too many types of durians. The more the merrier!
