Recently, the world mourned the death of 73-year-old grandpa Narayana Reddy, a kindly old man from Telangana, India who spent his life generously feeding orphans by cooking massive amounts of food for hungry children and documenting the process on his channel, Grandpa’s Kitchen.

Needless to say, the good-hearted old cook touched millions of lives with his selfless actions, amassing over six million subscribers on Youtube. And while the world will no longer be able to watch this kind man cook for the needy, the generous grandpa did leave a parting gift for the world to remember his legacy – his recipes.

Due to his deteriorating health, Grandpa couldn’t upload as many videos towards the end of his life. One of the most memorable videos he uploaded was dated back in 20th September. This precious video is believed to be amongst the final significant recipes shared by grandpa before he was laid to rest.
In the video, the kind Grandpa is documented alongside three other men cooking crispy potato fingers for the orphans of his village. And the recipe is as follows:
Grandpa’s Giant Crispy Potato Fingers Recipe
Ingredients:
Potatoes
Wheat flour (Semolina)
Salt
Coriander leaves (sliced)
Green chili (sliced)
Water
Steps:
- Boil the potatoes until they are tender and mash them up.
- Mix the powdered flour with water and let the mixture cook for a while.
- Mix the powdered dough with the mashed potatoes, green chili and coriander leaves. Add salt to taste.
- Stir the potato fingers and fry until they turn golden brown.
- Serve the dish with your favourite sauce.

It was truly heartwarming to see the faces of those poor kids light up with joy whenever they tasted Grandpa’s food. The kind old man will be dearly missed.
