An employee’s biggest nightmare may very well be being contacted an bothered on their off days in regards to work.

Which is why this company in India is now fining their employees, should they disturb their colleagues while they’re on leave.

According to CNBC TV18, the founders of Dream11, a fantasy sports platform run by Harsh Jain and Bhavit Seth, shared that they fine their employees Rs 1 Lakh (RM5,322.08) should they disturb another employee during their ‘unplug’ period.

“Needles to say, a lot of effort is taken and time is sacrificed to deliver a product that our users will love and we can be proud of. When a big tournament is approaching, the work-life balance may go for a toss. But once the tournament is over, a few days of being completely unplugged from work to recharge is an absolute must for every Dreamster,”

“Hence, Dream11 offers Dream11 Unplug – an opportunity for our team members to completely cut off from all office work, related conversations and colleagues for a week. Yes, seven whole week days without any work pressure,” they wrote in a LinkedIn post.

To prevent other colleagues from contacting those who are ‘unplugged’, the bosses also ensure that they are logged off from all work-related communication platforms.

“At Dream11, we actually log off the Dreamster who is unplugged, off from every possible Stadium communication platform, be it Slack, emails and even WhatsApp groups. We do this to ensure absolutely no one from the Dreamster’s work ecosystem can contact them while they are on their well-deserved break,”

“We understand that spending quality time with loved ones or just relaxing altogether on a vacation can immensely improve the overall mood, quality of life and productivity in general and more,” they added.

What do you think of this company’s efforts to ensuring their employees get to rest undisturbed? Do feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.
