There are two types of people in this world: those who love durians and those who can’t stand the taste and the smell of durians.

As for the people who love durians, they often come up with different ways to pair them with other food.

For illustration purposes only.

One hawker by the name of Derrick in Singapore has a rather unique durian pairing. Derrick runs Wang Yuan Fish Soup in a food court at Tampines. He has recently stepped into the limelight for pairing his signature fish soup with durians, reported Zaobao.

One bowl of this soup costs 12SGD (RM37). If you think that’s expensive for a bowl of soup, the price is explained by the special ingredients Derrick uses in the dish. He uses organic durian and the soup does not contain any MSG at all so customers can enjoy the clean taste of the dish while being filled with nutrients.

In a Facebook post, Derrick said that the idea for the durian fish soup started back in 2019. The main aim behind the soup was to create a two in one combo, whereby customers can taste the soup’s harmonious flavours while still being healthy.

“It was with the intention to let our customers enjoy both health benefits and to satisfy their durian cravings, a 2 in 1 combination.”

After many news portals reported of Wang Yuan Fish Soup’s unique dish, his soup has been selling out quickly.

This is certainly very interesting! We would definitely love to taste it!
