While many companies are now laying off workers to tighten their budget, this company is doing the opposite – they’re giving handsome Christmas bonuses involving tens of thousands of dollars to its workers! The company in question is FloraCraft, a family-owned company established in 1946 in western Michigan, US.
On Friday (14 December), the owner named Lee Schoenherr told his 200 employees that he will be sharing about USD$4 million (approx. RM16.7 million) with his full-time workers and their share will be based on how long they’ve been with the company. On average, each worker will receive about USD$20,000 (approx. RM83,400)!
Although the first installment can only be made at the end of 2019, Lee’s employees are grateful and have started lining up to personally thank their boss after hearing the announcement. It’s a long wait but it’s definitely worth it!
“It was very humbling. I started crying – it was huge for him to do something like that for everybody,” said Mary Overla, who works as an assistant production supervisor.
Every employee who’s entitled to the bonus will receive both a cash bonus and a special contribution to the worker’s retirement account.
Just so you know, FloraCraft makes foam products and supplies them to Walmart, Amazon, Hobby Lobby and retailers across 50 states and 17 countries. Since its inception in 1946, the management has never laid off a single worker and the average employee tenure there is nine years! That’s pretty good!
In fact, some employees are second- or third-generation workers where their parents and grandparents have worked in the same company before. Clearly, there are perks to staying loyal to this company because for those who’ve worked here for over 40 years, they will receive USD$60,000 (approx. RM250,300) worth of bonus! No wonder the turnover rate is so low!
It’s the end of the year and if you want to give your boss a hint, why not share this article with them? XD
