If you have watched the recent mega-blockbuster Tenet, then you are probably confused with the idea of doing things in reverse. Guess what, there is a cafe in Kuantan, Pahang that lets you have a similar experience like that. In this case, drinking coffee upside-down?
Kopi & Teh is a cafe in Kuantan, Pahang that offers a variety of food, coffee, tea and desserts. Established in August 2019, the owner Leanna, her husband and his friends originally wanted a small, chilling coffee house but they rented a big old shop instead.
Sharing with WORLD OF BUZZ, Leanna said that she, her husband and their friends are all photographers by profession and they travel a lot. It is where they got the idea of bringing other dishes, coffee and tea from overseas.
As for the name of the cafe, Leanna said: “My hubby is a coffee lover & I’m a tea lover hence we got the name Kopi & Teh.”. Kopi & Teh serves Kopi Terbalik, which is upside-down coffee from Aceh, Indonesia, also known as Kopi Khop.
From the looks of it, many will think that it is a coffee pudding or jelly at first glance. But surprisingly, you just have to put the straw underneath the glass cup and have a sip and you will get to taste the coffee!
Besides the unique coffee, Kopi & Teh’s speciality is their Nasi Geprek Ayam Crispy originated from Indonesia. Leanna recommends spicy food lovers to have a try as she thinks they will like it. There is also Bakmie Ayam Geprek on days you decide to abandon your Asian roots and not have rice.
For tea lovers, there are assorted teas from Ahmad tea, served in a small pot. The pot of tea can be shared and is refillable. Leanna’s personal favourite is salted cookies boba from the cafe, she said it is different from all the other boba tea currently in market.
“It looks like normal boba but it tastes so good. It’s a combination of salted caramel & butter cookies with brown sugar,” Leanna added. Boba tea lovers, where ya at?
Kopi & Teh’s cakes also makes us drool. With more than ten different flavours, the cakes were all handmade by Leanna, but nowadays she gets the cakes from another baker.
The cafe also has a skylight space for you to dine in, and it looks absolutely stunning. Leanna said this is “my favourite part, especially during evening time.” Time to take some insta-worthy pictures while indulging the desserts and tea!
When asked if there will be any new products in the future, Leanna said: “We will bring some new menu before the end of the year, such as mocktails, latte and a coffee machine. Once the border re-opens, we are looking at more varieties of coffee & drinks.”.
The cafe is also looking into bringing us food like pizza, mozzarella balls and a few others!
The ambience and the mouthwatering food of the cafe bring such an amazing vibe. If you are free during the weekends, why not visit this cafe in Kuantan and have yourself some upside-down coffee and some delicious Nasi Grepek Ayam Crispy?
