The times are truly changing as residents of Kampung Ampang Campuran in Ampang Jaya requested that local authorities provide them with a community pickleball court, when they had asked for badminton or futsal courts in the past.
Investment, Trade and Industry Minister (MITI) Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz took to his Facebook page to share how the residents had gotten their wish following a gotong-royong (spring cleaning) event in their neighbourhood, which saw an old court being cleaned up and converted into a pickleball court.

His caption wrote, “From the MITI Madani Kampung Angkat Program in Sabak Bernam, I went straight to the EXIM Bank Gotong-Royong Program and Madani Santuni Ceremony at the Kampung Ampang Campuran Hall in Ampang.”
“Today’s (30 November) program included the handover of food baskets to 100 residents, gotong-royong painting, as well as the launch of the gotong-royong to transform an existing court into a pickleball court at the request of the residents.”
The times have changed

He went on to share how they, as the local authorities, need to keep up with the changing trends for the sake of the people.
“The tastes of the residents have also changed now. In the past, residents usually asked for badminton, takraw or futsal courts. Now, they ask for pickleball! We also have to keep up with the times.”
