If you were a 90’s baby, you definitely would’ve had Black Eyed Peas in your playlist. So you can imagine how we were freaking out when band leader Will.I.Am dedicated their hit song, “Where is the Love?” to Malaysians for selflessly responding with kindness to those in need!
So we had Black Eyed Peas performing tonight and here's what they had to say about Malaysia pic.twitter.com/xUsBXCuRdL

During the closed-door concert held over the weekend (7th December), a netizen uploaded a video on Twitter of the lead singer giving a heartfelt speech professing his love for Malaysia, recalling how quickly Malaysians responded to help Indonesia during the horrendous 2004 Bandar Aceh tsunami that killed more than 220,000 victims across 14 countries.
“Let me tell you why I love Malaysia so much… that tsunami devastated a lot of people’s lives and in March 2005, I flew to Malaysia on my birthday, March 15th, because Malaysia was doing some outreach and tsunami relief in Indonesia.”
“And so I flew to Malaysia to help Indonesia out. It was a beautiful experience. Being here in this country in 2005 doing tsunami relief to help out the people of Indonesia.”
But it doesn’t stop there. Will.I.Am even went on to say that witnessing Malaysians help out a neighbouring country was “one of the most magical, heartbreaking, heartwarming, mind-opening experiences.”
“And I want to thank the people of Malaysia for helping out the people of Indonesia even though it was in 2005, it was a beautiful thing. And that’s when I realised how much love this country has so we don’t have to go around asking “where is the love?” anymore because the love is right here in Malaysia!”
Right after he ended his heartwarming speech, the band launched right into their hit song, “Where Is The Love?” as fellow Malaysians could be heard in the background cheering and singing together in unity. Aww!
Let’s keep showing the love, Malaysians! This is the kind of reputation we’re proud to have.
