Abang Polis Seen Allegedly Taking Bribe from Luxury Car Driver in Seri Kembangan, PDRM to Conduct Internal Probe

A viral video making its rounds on social media, including this Facebook post by Berita Viral Trending, caught the attention of Malaysians recently, showing something suspicious taking place during a roadblock conducted by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) near a mall in Seri Kembangan, Selangor.

In the video, a traffic policeman can be seen receiving something from the driver of a luxury car that was pulled over and putting it in his pocket before walking away to rejoin the other officers at the roadblock.

In the video, which was recorded from a high vantage point, a lorry and a luxury car can be seen being pulled over at the roadblock manned by three personnel from the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT).

Several seconds in, the camera zoomed in on one traffic policeman talking with the driver of the luxury car.

Afterwards, the driver can be seen getting something from the vehicle’s front passenger seat before handing it over to the traffic policeman, who then puts it in his pocket.

The traffic policeman then walked away to join with the other two policemen at the roadblock.

The Serdang District Police will be conducting an internal investigation into the allegations

Serdang District Police Chief ACP AA Anbalagan has since issued a statement to address the viral video, saying that an internal investigation will be conducted into allegations of misconduct by the police personnel seen in the video. 

BERNAMA quoted AA Anbalagan as saying that the investigation would review whether misconduct or any breach of roadblock guidelines took place.

He asserted,

“Investigations are being conducted and the Serdang District Police Headquarters won’t compromise if misconduct did occur during the roadblock.”
