For book lovers, this will mark the end of an era.

The very 1st MPH Megastore, which was opened to the public in 1999 is closing its doors, 25 years after the bookstore went into business. The matter was announced via MPH’s official website, where they shared a heartfelt goodbye message to customers and fans.

“Thank you for the support that has been given to MPH Bookstore in Mid Valley for the past 25 years. We’re also grateful to the management of Mid Valley for always being a gracious landlord for a quarter of century.”

In the message, the MPH bookstore also said the outlet had always carried the largest collection of Children’s books in the Klang Valley, if not the country.

“The megastore’s collection of titles for professionals were also considered the biggest for a store of its class.”

Back then, MPH Megastore Mid Valley had a book cafe but the coffee house was closed down since the bookstore relocated to other units in the mall. Regardless, the bookstore continuously pulled in a large number of loyal customers.

For book lovers, especially those who have been patronising the place, it is heart-wrenching to bid farewell to one of the places with years of memories. However, there’s still time for you to pay the outlet a last visit (or two!)

The MPH Mid Valley Megamall outlet’s last day of operation will be on January 31 and will be offering customers discounts of up to 90% off in a moving-out clearance event, effective January 22 as announced via their FB page.

Despite its closure in Mid Valley Megamall, MPH Bookstore announced that they will be opening another new outlet at the TRX Mall in KL!

To those who wish to visit the MPH Bookstore in Mid Valley, now’s the best time! 80s and 90’s kids who grew up with the bookstore, can you recall the books that you bought there?
