Yesterday (January 8), it was reported by Harian Metro that around 30 vehicle owners are questioning the actions of the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) which issued a compound amounting to RM1,000 for all of the vehicles parked in the field at Dewan Eng Ann, Taman Eng Ann, Klang.
According to the report, the majority of vehicles which were parked there were of parents who were attending their children’s taekwondo competition at the hall which was organised at the district level.
One of the parents who wanted to be known as Nantharajan said that he was surprised after seeing the number of summons issued by the MPK.
“I felt that it’s odd because the programme attended today is on a holiday, which is Sunday. The number of compounds is very absurd.”
“Most of those present today are parents from various schools throughout the district, and considering that this area is a residential estate and at the same time, not having a parking prohibition sign feels very unfair to us,” they added.
Meanwhile, another parent, Hafiz, also expressed his disappointment at the inconsiderate attitude of the local authority.
“They should have been considerate because the field is public property, it does have road access to park on the edge of the field. The enforcers should have warned by making an announcement beforehand because we were only in the hall,” he explained.
He urged for the of authorities to take appropriate action following the issuance of the unfair compound and the high amount.
“We ask MPK to be more considerate. The amount of RM1,000 is not a small amount, imagine if almost all parked vehicles are charged a compound.”
It was reported that when contacted, Klang MP V Ganabatirau has said that he would seek an explanation from the council over the matter.
We hope that the matter is resolved amicably.
