Many are in a state of anger and disbelief over the verdict to throw clerk, Sam Ke Ting, in prison for 6 years along with a fine of RM6,000, in the case of the accident which led to the death of 8 teenage ‘basikal lajak’ cyclists.

But there are other aspects of the case that appear to be causing more outrage among the people. For instance, the fact that she was denied bail.

Teluk Intan MP, Nga Kor Ming, took to his Twitter page to compare as to why Sam was denied bail while former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak is walking a free man.

He wrote, “I am shocked to notice that Sam Ke Ting has been denied bail pending her appeal but on the other hand, Najib is free to go everywhere he likes despite being convicted twice by the High Court and Court of Appeal. Justice must not only be served but it must be seen to be served.”

While many agreed that Sam should have been allowed bail, they didn’t like that the case was compared to Najib’s.

“Come on la, don’t simply politicise all the ‘hot’ issues. Help her la. I myself don’t agree with the court’s decision. Don’t keep going back to Najib, then Najib, next Najib. Aiyoo, boring, you know? Boring.”

What do you think of the authorities’ decision to denied the clerk bail? And should this case be compared to that of the disgraced former Prime Minister?
