Celcom, Digi, Maxis, U Mobile and Telekom Malaysia (TM) will offer special Internet packages for B40 households, Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) students.
According to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), the initiatives by the five telco companies include Special Data Packages for SPM and STPM candidates in the first quarter of next year until the examinations end in April.
“Pre-paid data passes at RM20 for 15GB for 30-day periods will be offered from Jan 6, 2021,” the statement added.
“Besides this, Celcom, Digi, Maxis, TM and YTL will continue their free online classes namely Celcom for its Tuisyen Rakyat programme, DIGI (Jom Tuisyen), Maxis (e-Kelas), TM (I-Learn Ace) while YTL for its LFH initiative, namely free SIM card with 40GB data, content and free telephone for students from B40 families,” said the commission.
YTL’s Learning from home facilities will be provided until the SPM and STPM examinations are over, and the students from lower-income (B40) households can also apply to get mobile phones at zero charges.
Celcom, Digi, Maxis, U Mobile, TM and TIME’s initiative also covers free WIFI access provided at public spaces at 130 People’s Housing Projects (PPR) until the end of April 2021.
To ease daily online learning activities for B40 families, SPM and STPM students, the operating hours of Community Internet Centres will be from 9am to 9pm from now, according to BERNAMA.
