“The court must consider the lasting trauma the victim suffered”
In addition to the good behaviour bond, the court ordered the accused to attend an interactive workshop organised by the Social Welfare Department (JKM), accompanied by his parents, and to ensure he does not repeat the offence during the bond period.
He must remain offence-free for two years and was also required to post a RM3,000 bond with one surety for the same duration.
Meanwhile, Deputy Public Prosecutor Norhidayah Abdullah Sani said after the proceedings that the prosecution had sought a deterrent sentence, citing the importance of public interest and the emotional trauma endured by the victim.
“The victim was only 13 years and eight months old at the time. The court must take into account the lasting psychological impact this incident has had on him,” she said.
