This pandemic has separated a lot of families, especially those whose parents work in Singapore and travel between 2 countries.
In a Tiktok video that has gone viral with more than 4.3 million views and 411,000 likes, we see an emotional reunion of a mother and her daughter who have been separated for 2 years due to the pandemic.
The short clip by netizen Norshafika Rahmat shows a surprise reunion that she had planned alongside her sister, Liza (the mother of the child) who is working in Singapore.
In the video, at a mall, we can see Liza walking towards the camera. When the little girl spots a person who looks like her mother, she does a double take and moves towards her to double confirm.
Upon a closer look, it turns out that it was really her mother and the duo embraced each other. The child was crying her eyes out while repeating “mummy”. Who’s cutting onions over here?!

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Norshafika told us that her sister used to travel back and forth between Johor and Singapore for work everyday before the pandemic began. As she needed the money, she continued working in Singapore during the pandemic and was separated from her daughter for a whole 2 years.
Other than surprising her daughter, Liza also surprised her mother in a restaurant. The mother was quite confused as to who it was but when Liza pulled down her mask, she screamed in delight and pulled her in a tight hug.

Norshafika has told us that Liza is currently on leave and will be staying in Johor for a while to spend precious time with her daughter.
After watching this video, we can’t help but cry happy tears for the family as they have been separated by circumstances. Thankfully, they were able to meet because of the VTL!
