Feeling trapped in the mundane, a man decided to break free by walking from Selangor to Melaka, seeking something exceptional.
Describing it as a “shower idea,” the decision to embark on this adventure was spontaneous. After hitting the road, facing obstacles like worn-out shoes, getting tailed by a pack of dogs, as well as some blisters here and there, Menara Kajang was still determined to achieve his goals.
In a Twitter thread, he wrote that after a night’s rest in a decent hotel, his journey continued, revealing moments of kindness. He encountered a beggar along the way and, driven by sheer compassion, he offered assistance. Reaching his childhood home in Kajang, he couldn’t help but sail back to the good times of yesteryear.
Facing solitary moments in the dark, he held onto his determination to fulfil the promise he made to himself. Despite tempting offers of a lift, he stayed true to the essence of the journey:
“The walk is the point.”
Even amidst rainy weather and blisters, his compassionate spirit endured. A pit stop at a 7-Eleven allowed him to help hungry stray cats by buying them food, showcasing kindness in the face of adversity.
During his journey, two individuals did eventually offer a ride to Melaka town to which he graciously declined. This decision reflected his determination to see through the challenges on foot.
“I kept walking. Raincoat, umbrella. Jeans and shoes were soaked. I simply did not want to stop. I refuse to be denied my prize this close to the finish line.”
Malaysians couldn’t help but share their love and support for him in the comment section.
After an incredible 170 hours, the journey reached its end at A’Famosa, Melaka. In an exclusive interview, he shared advice for those hesitant to step out of their comfort zones:
“Stop worrying and start doing.”
