Many of us were surprised to find out that Taylor Swift will be having a 3-day concert in Singapore and it seems that it is the only stop she will be making for South East Asia.
As there are so many Swifties in the SEA region, it definitely seems that the ticketing may be an all-out “war”.
It seems that some teenagers in Singapore think the same thing as well and some of them have asked their Minister of Education, Chan Chun Sing, to make the ticketing days, 5 and 7 July, public holidays.
In response to that, the minister has said that he is concerned about how fans of other artists will feel if he heeds their requests.
“But I am concerned how fans of Coldplay, Blackpink, BTS, Beyoncé, and others will feel too. I am also concerned that this may further fuel inflation as some overseas reports have suggested.”
So, he proposed a deal with them. If any fan can get Taylor Swift or any other A-listers to perform at their school for free, then the MOE will allow the school to take the day off and everyone can enjoy the concert.
The minister also said that it would be more reasonable to invite the stars to come and perform one day and the school to have a school holiday the next day.
“Ok, if you can invite her to your school to perform free of charge, your school will have the next day off? Better? Try not to have her come on Fri then…?”
Not gonna lie, we’re quite jealous that Taylor Swift is only stopping at Singapore for her SEA leg of The Eras Tour. But did the minister just hint that Beyonce will be touring and stopping at Singapore as well?
