Live streaming and online business are on the rise, especially after the arrival of TikTok and Facebook Live, where people grab the opportunity to earn themselves some side income.
Singaporean actor and comedian, Wang Lei who has been involved with live streaming businesses since the pandemic admitted that he makes more on the platform than his acting career.
“I make more through live streaming than my acting and singing career combined.”
He said that his biggest record was a massive RM4.9 million sale after a 2-hour live streaming!
In an interview with Pocketimes, Wang Lei hinted that his upcoming CNY movie – All In, might be the last film in his acting career.
“If I don’t get any good scripts this year, I think I’m making All In the happy ending of my acting career,” Wang Lei said.
During the interview, Wang Lei was brutally honest about the massive amount of money he makes through online business and live streaming, where he said,
“I can be really, really honest with you. I make more on live streaming platforms.”
He said that he’s aware of the dominance of online business and live streaming, which have boosted his wealth and popularity. From hosting live streamings in his kitchen with his wife, Wang Lei now streams from his manufacturing factory.
He was also gracious enough to share the other benefits that he got after venturing himself into the online platform and let’s just say, they are what we have always dreamt of.
“I get to spend more time with my wife. We travel around the world, we get free tickets, free meals, free stay.”
Wang Lei also took the time to share his experience of collaborating with Namewee, a Taiwan-based Malaysian rapper, as well as his thoughts on gambling, where he reminisced about the bad old times when he was addicted to gambling. You can watch the interview before.
