Previously, we shared the wholesome moment when the Deputy Chief of Immigration at Bangunan Sultan Iskandar, Puan Vimala presented a birthday cake to the Deputy Commander of Singapore’s Woodlands Checkpoint Tong Weijie.
The cake, decorated with the Singapore flag and landmarks, was a gift from the Johor Bahru Immigration for Singapore’s 58 National Day back on 9 August.
Now, the Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) has returned the favour by congratulating and presenting their Malaysian counterparts at the Land Checkpoints with a birthday cake for our country’s 66th Merdeka Day.
Taking to Facebook, the Singapore ICA shared several photos of the birthday cake and the presentation ceremony to the JB Immigration.
The giving of cakes on both our country’s national day is actually part of an annual tradition by both authorities and something that strengthens the bonds between the two nations.
Accordingly, on Thursday (31 August), Commanders from Woodlands and Tuas Checkpoint presented cakes to their Malaysian friends at Sultan Abu Bakar Complex to commemorate Malaysia’s 66th Merdeka Day.
Singapore ICA asserted,
“We look forward to continuing strong partnership with our Malaysian counterparts to facilitate trade and safe travels at the land borders.”
The cake by Singapore ICA was nicely decorated with the Malaysian flag and several of our country’s landmark buildings such as the Petronas Twin Towers (KLCC), as well as written with the message “Happy 66th Birthday Malaysia!”.
