As Malaysia prepared to celebrate its 68th Independence Day on August 31, Singapore’s Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) marked the occasion with a delightful surprise.
On August 30, commanders from ICA’s Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints crossed the Causeway bearing a celebratory cake and 68 cupcakes, each topped with the number “68,” for their Malaysian counterparts.

The gesture was accompanied by a social media post expressing appreciation for the cooperative ties between both nations.
“We are thankful for the strong partnership as we work together to keep our borders secure,” the post read.

The message also highlighted how such exchanges help ensure smooth trade and safe travel for the millions who cross the Causeway each year, ending with a warm note.
“Happy 68th Birthday, Malaysia!”

This heartwarming gesture follows a recent reciprocal celebration, where Malaysia’s Border Control and Protection Agency presented a cake commemorating Singapore’s 60th birthday.
