A 17-year-old SPM student was killed after a car hit him and fled the scene when he was packing food to take home. The victim sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot.
According to a report by China Press, the fatal incident occurred at about 11 AM today (13 November) on the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Highway in Penang.

A 17-year-old teenager in Penang was killed in a hit-and-run incident
The student, who had just gotten his motorcycle Learner’s Driving License (LDL) this year, had gone out alone to pack food near his home on Karpal Singh Drive.
As he was riding his motorcycle, he was struck by a car, causing him and his motorcycle to overturn. The car involved then ran over his body and drove away, fleeing the scene.
The Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Highway has a motorcycle lane, though it has been closed for several months to accommodate the light rail transit (LRT) system development in Penang.

Considering that the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Highway is equipped with CCTVs, the authorities are reportedly utilising the footage to identify the driver responsible for the incident.
His family was left inconsolable

After being notified of the incident, his parents and brother arrived at the scene, only to be left heartbroken, and they wept bitterly at the loss of their loved one.
The boy’s mother could not hold back her tears while being supported and comforted by relatives and friends. The boy’s brother, on the other hand, knelt beside his body with his hands clasped, bidding him a peaceful journey.
Our sincerest condolences to the boy’s family and loved ones.
