Some teachers are truly a gift that needs to be appreciated.
Nursyamini Nadia Norazman, 26, who is a counselling teacher at a secondary school in Kota Tinggi, Johor, said that the many hardships and difficulties faced by her students have made her feel the need to help ease their burden.
“I am overwhelmed with the hardships of life experienced by these students,” she said.
“Some of them are used to not eating for a day or two, have family problems and many more. I then shared on social media about the intention to help these students,” she added on.
“Alhamdulillah, I am surrounded by very good friends and family. Many people have contributed to buy food, including teachers,” she said when contacted by Harian Metro, today.
Commenting further, she said, initially, assistance was given in the form of food to students at school.
“However, due to the closure of the school, assistance was extended in the form of household necessities to families in need and affected by this Covid-19 pandemic,” she explained.
“A total of 30 students’ families received assistance from basic necessities which started last August until now,” she added on.
She said she managed to visit two to seven houses every day to present the donations.
“With the amount of money donated, I can distribute it to several parts, most of it being clothes, kitchen items and food supplies,” she said.
“I only have one intention which is that these students are not hungry and have nothing to be ashamed about once the school reopens later,” she added.
Nursyamini added that the distribution of these donations was done using her own vehicle and her husband and family helped her.
