Across the causeway, a pair of siblings stole their grandmother’s ATM card and spent SGD28,500 (RM87,070) on branded items.

According to Lianhe Zaobao, this incident happened in March earlier this year. A pair of siblings (boy, 19 and girl, 18) stole their grandmother’s card and used her savings to splurge on branded items.

It is said that the boy saw the grandmother’s ATM card on her bed and took it without her knowledge. After that, he approached his younger sister and told her about it. It turns out that the younger sister knew the grandma’s ATM password and the duo decided to use the money together.

In just seven days, the duo managed to spend SGD 28,500 (RM87,070) on branded goods!

Later, the 80-year-old grandma reported to the police that she had lost her ATM card and that her money was missing. She didn’t know that it was her own grandchildren who had stolen her ATM card and used her money.

Upon further investigation, the police found branded items such as sneakers, clothes, underwear, cosmetics, wallets, iPhones and smartwatches in their home.

The 18-year-old girl even transferred SGD1,013 (RM3,095) to her mother who didn’t know that it was stolen money.

The teenagers were then taken to court and charged. In addition to theft, the boy also had another charge of indecent assault.

This is certainly not the right way to do things. Stealing is already bad enough but stealing from your own grandma? That’s worse. What do you think about this? Let us know.
