Due to service interruptions between the Bandaraya LRT station and the Masjid Jamek LRT station, alternative services has been activated by Rapid KL.
Commuters have since been urged to plan their journeys accordingly.
According to the Rapid KL Facebook page, shuttle train and complimentary intermediate bus services between the Hang Tuah LRT station and the Masjid Jamek LRT station have been implemented to ease your travels throughout the LRT service disruptions.
They wrote, “The alternative route operation of the Ampang/Sri Petaling Line LRT service, which involves a shuttle train service between LRT Hang Tuah and LRT Masjid Jamek stations and a free intermediate bus, is running smoothly today (January 31).”
“Based on observations at major stations such as the Hang Tuah LRT station and the Masjid Jamek LRT station during the morning and evening peak hours, it was found that the movement of passengers was smooth and controlled, despite the crowded conditions with a high number of passengers due to city residents returning to work after the Chinese New Year holidays.”
A total of 34 free intermediate buses have been activated to take passengers from LRT Hang Tuah to LRT Masjid Jamek as an alternative travel option.
“The alternative services have been activated due to LRT service interruptions between 2 stations, LRT Bandaraya and LRT Masjid Jamek. A total of 348 Prasarana staff including Auxiliary police and support staff have been placed at the main stations to control the movement of passengers and to help with passengers’ travels.”
“The morning and evening peak hours for the Ampang Line LRT service and also the Monorail have been extended starting today to reduce congestion at some stations. The morning peak time has been extended from 6:30am to 10:30am while the evening peak timings have been extended from 4:30pm to 8:30pm. This is to make it easier for commuters to plan their trips,” they added.
This comes after the Ampang/Sri Petaling Line between the Bandaraya LRT station and the Masjid Jamek LRT station was suspended last Friday (January 27) when the track near the Bandaraya LRT station was found to be bent. It is believed to be caused by a crack in the ‘viaduct’ structure.
“Rapid Rail once again apologises to all affected passengers and thanks them for their patience.”
So, don’t forget to plan your journeys accordingly to avoid any delays in your day!
