Shila Amzah is a famous Malaysian singer who many know as the one who made it HUGE in China some time ago.

Long before Malaysia’s Vanessa Reynauld had gone viral for her incredibly impressive stint on Sing! China 2023, Shila Amzah dominated China’s I Am A Singer in 2014, which put her on quite the pedestal in that country. So, what happened? Why didn’t she continue to pursue her thriving singing career in China?

According to a report by China Press, Shila has finally revealed why her singing career in China had fizzled out and yes, sabotage appears to be involved.

Apparently, her career in China ended when Hunan TV blacklisted her. But, why?

While speaking to her fans on Weibo not long ago, Shila explained that her manager at the time had allegedly planned out several collaborations for her with Hunan TV, China’s second-most-watched television channel, without her knowledge.

The former manager then failed to inform her of the collaborations, which caused her to miss scheduled events.

“My ex-manager caused a huge stir with this matter (the missed events). In fact, the directors of Hunan TV had scolded me because they had scheduled several events, but I didn’t know about them as I didn’t have direct contact with them,” she said.

Due to her absence being a breach of contract, Hunan TV blacklisted her. They also subsequently deleted her clips from the I Am A Singer programme.

“Watching all my ‘I Am A Singer‘ videos makes me very sad,” she added.

She also explained that she endured many difficulties due to her former manager but she didn’t speak up about this back then as she didn’t feel brave enough.

Thankfully, she managed to pick herself back up and build a stronger musical career from the ashes of her old one.

On top of that, she and her new manager are looking to expand in China again!

“Now, I have new goals and new dreams, and I really hope that everyone will support me,” she told her fans.

It is truly great to see how Shila didn’t let her hardships bring her down.
