A restaurant customer recently shared his dining experience on a Facebook page after being left speechless by the price of his meal at an eatery in Johor Bahru.
He had ordered a plate of mixed rice with curry chicken, braised meat, an egg, and some curry vegetables, but was shocked when the total came up to RM30.

“I was hit with a RM30.20 bill”
Based on the post, which included a photo of the meal, the customer admitted that he didn’t check the prices of each item before taking them.
“I got a shock when I was asked to pay. I didn’t ask how much each item cost. From a pushcart to now having their own outlet. I’ve been eating their famous fried chicken on and off for 10 years until yesterday, when I really got slapped with the price, RM30.20,” the customer wrote.
The owner of the famous eatery has since responded to the incident, revealing that the customer took a particularly large portion, which naturally led to a higher price.
Responding to the viral photo, she even called out the customer and shared a breakdown of the meal, saying:
“White rice RM3.50, curry chicken (small piece) RM5, braised egg RM1.50, curry vegetables RM2.50, braised meat RM15, Chinese tea RM1 + 6% SST. Next time when you’re going to post about me online, please take a proper photo. Take it from the top, from the front, not from an angle that hides the rice. Don’t you know how much braised meat you took?

“He also asked for extra rice”
The owner explained that the customer had actually taken two spoonfuls of braised meat, but the angle of the photo made the portion look smaller than it really was.
In an interview with China Press, she pointed out that braised pork is priced at RM5 to RM6 per scoop, and since the customer took more than two scoops, it added up to around RM15.
“The customer also asked for extra rice, which cost RM4. The curry chicken was RM6, braised egg RM1.50, curry vegetables RM4, and Chinese tea RM1. After adding 6% service tax, the total came to RM30.20,” she said.
She added that some of the braised meat was probably hidden under the rice, and if the photo had been taken from another angle, the full portion would have been more obvious.
