With Coldplay’s concert about 6 months away, many fans have eagerly shown their excitement for the show which is scheduled for November this year. In the meantime, some people have also voiced out their distaste for having concerts in Malaysia, especially Coldplay who publicly showed their support for the rainbow movement.

Regardless of who they support, Selangor MB, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari made it clear that it doesn’t really matter. That is because he knows that the people in Selangor are matured and wise enough to understand the culture of their own country, and the people’s support towards Coldplay has nothing to do with the rainbow movement.

“They’re supporting Coldplay not because of the rainbow movement but simply for their music.”

Despite Coldplay’s support towards the movement, Amirudin said that the civil and Syariah laws in the state clearly do not condone any culture that relates to LGBTQ. In order to preserve the laws, Amirudin has a friendly reminder to the organisers for their future reference.

“Tell Coldplay and any other performers in the future NOT to exhibit their support during the show.”

In a clip shared by the Twitter page Kami Keadilan, Amirudin also said that he agreed with what former Minister of Health, KJ had said recently about putting an end to the call of banning Coldplay. He took the opportunity to tell others that if Coldplay should be banned from entering Malaysia for their support towards LGBTQ, then a lot of users of different products will have to ask for a refund from the sellers as some brands are also supporters of the rainbow movement.

Coldplay is scheduled to perform at Bukit Jalil on November 22. Tickets for the show have unfortunately sold out 3 hours after the sale began.

Well, as long as all the performers who come to Malaysia for a show follow all the rules and respect the culture, then we have no reasons to call for a ban on their entry.
