PAS Selangor is currently urging the Malay people from different states who are working in Selangor to change their polling stations to Selangor to increase Malay votes in the state.

Taking to its Facebook page, the post explained how one can change their polling station while justifying why people should do it.

They wrote, “It’s time for everyone who lives and works in Selangor to change their polling station to this state. This is an important step to ensure that every vote reflects the true reality of the people residing in Selangor. This is our right as citizens and is allowed by SPR (Election Commission of Malaysia).”

“It’s surprising that some parties are upset with this call. They accuse it of being undemocratic while their own leaders are contesting here and there. Why is it that when ordinary people want to vote where they reside, it’s made into an issue?”

“Don’t delay any longer! If you live, work and build a life in Selangor, follow the easy steps to change your polling station and play a role in determining the future of this state. Selangor deserves better.”

Not enough Malay voters in Selangor

In another post, they further explained their belief that the state of Selangor needs more Malay voters, hence the call for Malay people to change polling stations from the state they are from, to Selangor, where they currently work and live.

“PAS Selangor is committed to mobilising efforts to increase the number of Malay voters in this state to ensure a more just and equitable political demographic balance,”

“In several State Assembly and Parliament constituencies in Selangor, there is a significant gap between the number of Malay and non-Malay voters. This situation requires an awareness campaign to encourage more Malay voters who have been residents of Selangor for a long time to register as voters and ensure that they fulfil their responsibilities during the upcoming elections,” they explained.
