In a recent post that’s been making rounds online, @update11111 shared a video showing what is believed to be hundreds of mat rempits riding through the highways of Bagan, Penang.

A swarm of mat rempits riding against traffic

In the video, a car can be seen turning on its hazard lights as it makes its way through a swarm of Malaysians on motorcycles riding against traffic on the highway.

Not only could this potentially lead to unnecessary accidents, but it also caused traffic issues, as the riders took up 2 lanes and left only 1 lane for cars.

The video has gained significant attention online, with netizens expressing their outrage in the comments about how dangerous the motorcyclists’ actions are for both themselves and others.

“They’re worthless”

One user expressed concerns, describing these riders as having no purpose in life, being lazy about work and study, and engaging in mat rempit culture simply for the thrill.

“In reality, society views people like this as worthless. Even Rohingya who collect second-hand goods are considered better than these mat rempits,” the user said.

While many agreed with the comments, others also began sharing their thoughts and reactions to the situation shown in the video.

“They’re just causing trouble for others.”

“Another issue is that our laws are very weak, which is why they’re so bold.”

“Why are they going against traffic like this? If it were up to me, I’d just run them over.”

“More and more people are raising kids who don’t think. Don’t they realise that going against traffic is dangerous?”

“Are there really no laws anymore? It’s scary to see a situation like this.”

“Our road laws are treated like a joke. Even if you arrest them repeatedly, there will always be more who engage in illegal group racing and aren’t deterred.”
