ROSÉ and Bruno Mars’ new song, APT., has been surrounded by controversy here in Malaysia after the Public Health Malaysia Facebook page wrote a post about how the song allegedly encourages bad Western culture. This then led to a Korean platform assuming that the Facebook page was Malaysia’s Ministry of Health.

Now, it appears that the song may be garnering some flak in South Korea, as well.

According to a report by Newsen, the song has been banned for students in South Korea who are studying for college entrance exams. But no, not because it encourages bad behaviour but because it’s SO CATCHY that it could become a distraction!

Apt 2

Known as ‘forbidden songs’ in South Korea, songs are added to an unofficial list that is banned for students due to their catchiness being distracting during their studies for their difficult college entrance examinations.

Other songs that have been added to this list include aespa’s Next Level, Red Velvet’s Zimzalabim, and SHINee’s Ring Ding Dong.

Being added to this ‘banned’ list is considered a badge of honour in the Korean music scene as it means that the songs on the list are so catchy, they’re irresistible.

A huge kudos to ROSÉ and Bruno Mars on the ban!
