Reopening Of Spas, Tuition Centres & More, Here’s Everything From The Defence Minister’s Update Today

In his press conference today, Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri had some important updates regarding the Recovery Movement Control Order.

In this fast-paced world, it’s almost impossible to keep track of everything, so if you missed some of the points, not to worry! We have all the important stuff summarised for you here below:

 

1. Tourism subsector will be re-opening on the 1st of July

MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferencing, Exhibitions) for travel and trade fair will now be allowed to be conducted. As per usual, there will be SOPs present including a 250-person limit to the number of attendees allowed, with consideration placed on the size of the event space.

The organisers are responsible for making sure social distancing is maintained. They also have to ensure visitors have to register with the MySejahtera app and subsequently record their temperatures.

 

2. Spas, reflexology & massage centres will be allowed to operate starting on the 1st of July

Before re-opening these centres must check and register with PBT (local authorities) first. The SOPs for these centres include registering customers before entering, taking their temperatures before they enter the premise and ensuring both employees and customers are wearing masks. Each centre is also to be equipped with hand sanitiser dispensers.

The workers at the establishments must be screened for Covid-19. Another thing to note is that workers at the centres MUST be Malaysians.

 

3. Foreign ambassadors and workers at the ambassador offices can perform their Friday prayers at the mosque starting on the 3rd of July

While foreigners are still not allowed in mosques, foreign ambassadors and foreign workers in their office will be allowed to perform their Friday prayers in mosques starting next week Friday, the 3rd of July.

The suraus at their offices will also be opened after the government sends a diplomatic notice.

 

4. Registered tahfiz schools and madrasah can now re-open

Form Five and Form Six students will be allowed to attend tahfiz schools depending on the institutions themselves. Non-registered tahfiz schools will first have to seek permission first before re-opening.

 

5. Tuition centres, private schools and special education schools can now re-open

While the minister reassured that these establishments are allowed to re-open, the specific date of re-opening and SOPs to follow is yet to be announced. He advised Malaysians to remain patient and wait for the announcement by the Education Ministry.
