Quick-Thinking Malaysians Save Local Woman From Jumping Off Bridge in Johor

The Pontian Johor District Police has addressed a video circulating online, shared by a Facebook page, which shows a woman attempting to jump off the Jambatan Sungai Pulai bridge in Johor.

The police statement confirms that the incident happened on September 4th (Wednesday) at 10:55 AM. The Pontian District Police Control Center received a call from a member of the public reporting the situation.

They managed to save the woman in time

A member of the public reported that a woman was attempting to jump off the Jambatan Sungai Pulai at kilometre 4.6, Jalan Utama Permas, Kukup, Pontian Johor.

“Police officers from the IPD Pontian Patrol Unit responded to the scene and met with the caller, who guided them to the bridge where the woman was standing, seemingly ready to jump.”

Thanks to the caller’s assistance, the officers were able to calm the local woman and safely escort her back to the Permas Police Station.

She previously received treatment at a hospital

The authorities also contacted the woman’s family to hand her over to them. It is understood from the woman’s family that she had previously received treatment at Hospital Permai.

The police advise the public not to share any videos that could cause distress to the community.
