A viral video caused the ire of a majority of Malaysians yesterday (21 March), showing an elderly vendor throwing petai or stink beans onto the street in protest of Port Dickson Municipal Council (MPPD) enforcement officers ordering him to stop trading at a parking lot in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan.

Following the incident getting traction nationwide, MPPD and the assemblyperson of the area acted swiftly by paying the elderly vendor a visit to clear the air.

Sri Tanjung ADUN and MPPD officials visit the viral petai vendor to amicably resolve the issue

Specifically, Sri Tanjung assemblyperson Dr Rajasekaran Gunnasekaran, MPPD Yang di-Pertua Tuan Hasnor and several officials from the municipal council visited the elderly vendor, known as Pak Cik Noor, at his house last night to amicably resolve the matter.

As shared by Dr Rajasekaran’s official Facebook page, after holding a discussion, MPPD agreed to grant Pak Cik Noor a temporary license so that he could legally conduct his business.

Furthermore, MPPD enforcement officer En Kamarul also shook hands with Pak Cik Noor as a symbol of the issue being resolved.

Besides that, the Sri Tanjung assemblyperson also presented a donation on behalf of Port Dickson Member of Parliament (MP) and Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Aminuddin Harun to Pak Cik Noor as compensation for the losses the latter incurred during the viral incident.
