The semi-final action of the football league match organised by the Ipoh Football Team (PBI) at the Taman Dr Seenivasagam football field was marred by a commotion involving players and coaches who were not satisfied with the referee’s decision.
A 49-second video recording of the commotion went viral on social media leading to the police having to investigate the matter.
Ipoh District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Yahaya Hassan, said that so far, no police report has been received regarding the incident, but further review found that the incident in the video happened on September 14.
He said the commotion broke out during a football league match organised by the Ipoh Football Association involving 2 local football teams or clubs in the semi-final match.
He said in that incident, the group of coaches and players who lost the match were unsatisfied with the referee’s decision and went after some of the referees after the match ended.
“A police check found no police report was received following the incident. A further check found that the incident happened at approximately 6:55 pm on Thursday at the Taman Dr Seenivasagam football field.
“However, there was no fight in the incident, and no injuries were reported,” he explained.
He further said that following that, the police advised the public not to make any speculations and spread false information about the video recording in question, causing public annoyance.
