The debate about vernacular schools is still ongoing, but Perikatan Nasional recently clarified that, according to its member Wan Ahmad Fayhsal, the party would NOT be closing vernacular schools.

“We support vernacular schools. They’re ‘enriched’ with the national corriculum and it reflects the national characters.”

Wan added that the Malaysian Chinese and Indians understand that PN is NOT against vernacular schools, according to the Malaysia Gazette.

However, UMNO Youth Leader Dr Akmal Saleh had something to say about Wan’s statement. In his Facebook post yesterday (May 3), Dr Akmal shared a screenshot of an old news article back from 2020 that shows Wan being AGAINST vernacular schools.

Dr Akmal highlighted the differences in Wan’s stand in just 4 years, saying,

“What happened, bro? Are you changing your stand now just for votes?”

Wan is well aware of Dr Akmal’s Facebook posts and knows how to respond to the UMNO Youth Leader.

“Look after your party first”

In his FB post last night, Wan said Dr Akmal should be well aware of UMNO before getting into the “polemic of vernacular schools.”

“Talk to the leader of your party 1st who didn’t take his oats seriously, and even insulted Allah.”

Wan also said that during GE15, UMNO would make oaths to save themselves but silently “make deals with the devils.”

“Don’t blame the people for getting angry, when you are the one allowing DAP to be in power.”
