Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim shared a lot of details during the tabling of Budget 2026 yesterday (10 October) in Parliament, and one of them revolves around the Employees’ Provident Fund (KWSP) withdrawals.
The withdrawal for the purpose of performing Hajj is now increased to RM10,000, as compared to the previous RM3,000.

“The government has agreed that the EPF withdrawal limit for the purpose of performing the Hajj pilgrimage be increased to RM10,000 instead of RM3,000,” the Prime Minister said.
Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, said that for civil servants, the facility for early withdrawal of GCR for the purpose of performing Hajj is limited to redemption of RM10,000 with an allocation of RM10 million.

GCR for civil servants stands for Gantian Cuti Rehat (Leave Replacement), a post-employment benefit that pays a cash award for accumulated, unused leave.
Despite the cry for another round of KWSP withdrawal for personal use, which was done previously via the i-Citra withdrawals, Anwar had highlighted in the past that another KWSP withdrawal for personal use is not happening.
However, the government had introduced Account 3 earlier this year. Account 3, also known as the Flexible account, allows users to access their savings at any time for emergency and urgent needs, subject to terms and conditions.
The Flexible account takes 10% of the user’s monthly KWSP contribution.
What do you think of the increase in KWSP withdrawals for Hajj purposes?
