A few hours later, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Yaakob took to his Twitter account to announce that Klang Valley (Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya) will be moving to phase two on 10 September.

Along with that, he also added a couple of relaxations in SOPs for sports and recreational activities for those states in Phase One states. It will come into effect on 10 September.

  • Indoor sports (except gyms) are allowed for those who are fully vaccinated.
  • Indoor commercial sports and recreational facilities are allowed to operate by regulation, only to customers who have been fully vaccinated. The usage of the facilities will have to be done on an appointment basis while abiding by the SOPs.

Earlier during the day, Minister of Health Khairy Jamaluddin said that KKM is working on ventilation guidelines for indoor gyms.

“For gyms, @KKMPutrajaya will be jointly developing some ventilation guidelines with MKN that need to be adhered to. This will not take long but because of the nature of indoor fitness centres, we must stress on certain ventilation requirements. Working on it urgently.”

Even though these SOP relaxations will bring relief to industries that have been severely affected, it is important for citizens to practice physically distancing and sanitise frequently when they are outdoors.
