PM Announces New Initiative To Tackle Poverty in Federal Territories

During the live conference on (31 January 2021) in conjunction with Federal Territory Day, Malaysia’s prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announces the City Poverty Program (5 MY) to tackle extreme poverty in the Federal Territories.

The 5 MY programs benefiting residents in the Federal Territories includes MYJobs@Wilayah, MYGrocer@Wilayah, MYSchoolBus@Wilayah, MYMedic@Wilayah and MYFood@Wilayah.

“Good news for the residents of the Federal Territories, the MYBeras@Wilayah program will also contribute a total of 575 packs of free rice for the families from B40 group in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan every week,” he added.

Besides, more than 35,000 people and 331 low-income households in Kuala Lumpur have received the assistance from the 5 MY program last year.

Muhyiddin also added that the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government will continue making efforts to achieve Malaysia’s vision as a sustainable, fair, equal and inclusive country as well as for the country to achieve prosperity and unity.
