We’ve all experienced situations where we go through tolls only to discover that our card balance is insufficient. So what do we do when that happens?
In a recent online discussion, a post originally shared by Zul Hazlie on Facebook was later shared by a Facebook page called Pekan Bangi regarding the toll situation.
The discussion revolves around the incidents that many netizens claim to have encountered when their TNG card runs low on balance.
According to the post, if you ever find yourself with insufficient funds on your card, all you need to do is press the intercom to notify the staff. A runner will then come to assist you in topping up your card.
“To all the road users, for safety reasons, please remain seated in your vehicle and refrain from crossing the toll booths. This is standard procedure. If the car behind you honks, stay calm until the runner arrives to assist you.”
The post further explained that if the runner directs anyone to walk to the top-up booth, it would be considered a violation of standard procedure.
“They acknowledge instances where it’s impractical for drivers to exit their vehicles and walk to the top-up booth at the far end. For instance, what if the driver is a person with disabilities (OKU), a pregnant woman, or someone with an infant in the car? How should they handle such situations?”
Netizens started flooding the comment section to share their thoughts on the situation.
“Can anyone verify this? I’ve encountered this situation countless times myself. Even the SKVE toll staff once instructed me to walk to the top-up booth.”
“Is this accurate? Usually, they ask me to walk all the way to the far end to top up my card.”
“In the past, they used to handle it for you, but now, they’ll request you to reverse your car, park on the side, and walk to the top-up booth at the far end.”
“I’ve encountered this situation numerous times. Even if there’s staff at the top-up booth, they still insist on making you walk all the way to the end to reload your card. Isn’t that risky?”
