Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced yesterday (15 September) that physical sports and recreational activities are now allowed in states under Phase 2 and 3 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) starting 17 September.
This includes states in the Klang Valley, which have transitioned to Phase 2 starting 10 September.
Of course, these activities will only be allowed for individuals who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, reported Berita Harian.
Additionally, these activities must be done at facilities where ‘full supervision’ can be conducted.
Ismail Sabri added that team sports and recreational activities that involve physical touching such as football, volleyball and takraw are allowed at full capacity of the sport.
“Individual fitness activities such as aerobics, zumba can be performed in groups in the same area and premises, but limited to 50% capacity or not exceeding 50 people, whichever is lower, for fully vaccinated individuals, under the supervision of a coach,” he said.
According to NST, Ismail Sabri said that “the resumption of these activities and the reopening of these facilities are on an appointment basis, and for premises which have been sanitised and will be done under strict monitoring of the operator of the premises”.
Meanwhile, The Edge Markets reported that offices in states under Phase 2 can operate at 100% capacity if 80% of employees have been fully vaccinated.
The tiered capacity allowance was also implemented, where offices in Phase 2 can operate at 80% capacity if 60% of employees are fully vaccinated, and 60% capacity operation if 40% are fully vaccinated.
